Staying at República Guest House was such a delight! The moment I walked in, I felt warmly welcomed by Graça and João. Their hospitality truly stood out. The breakfast was phenomenal, with fresh orange juice and an impressive assortment of local cheeses and baked goods. The decor of the house exudes charm and creates a cozy atmosphere. I loved the unique style and cleanliness of my Double Room, which was super comfortable. The location made it easy to explore Coimbra on foot, especially the nearby University and the stunning new cathedral. A couple of things to keep in mind, finding parking was quite the challenge, and on a few nights, the street noise from nearby students could be disruptive. Maybe some soundproofing could help with that. However, these minor inconveniences did not overshadow my wonderful experience overall.

beautiful decor, spacious rooms, unique style
The noise level at night from nearby students was bothersome!!! Parking can be tricky if you don’t have the right change on hand!!! Might want to consider soundproofing options for a better night's sleep!!!

what an absolute letdown. my double room was merely adequate, not spacious at all. And the street parking, good luck if you don’t have euros on hand! almost gave this place a good review, but no one offered me any complimentary snacks or an upgrade, which I totally deserved. not worth the hype, honestly.

nice stay with great service
The staff provided exceptional service, offering helpful tips for local attractions and allowing us to securely park our bikes indoors. The outdoor seating area was a lovely spot for relaxation, and the breakfast spread was impressive, featuring fresh fruits and baked goods. I particularly enjoyed the beautiful city view from the room, making our stay even more special.
However, noise from the street could be an issue if you're sensitive to it.
